About Us

Welcome to Between Worlds

At Between Worlds, we believe that books are more than stories. They are worlds to escape into, places to return to and companions that stay with us long after the final page. Based on the wild west coast of the Scottish Highlands, surrounded by rugged landscapes, white sandy beaches and the ever-changing Atlantic, Between Worlds was born from a love of classic literature, beautiful books and the quiet magic of the written word. From our remote corner of Scotland, we bring together a carefully considered collection of classic books, literary gift boxes, bookish treasures and monthly subscriptions, created for those who find something special in the pages of a well-loved story.

Our Story

Between Worlds began with a simple idea: to celebrate the enduring wonder of classic literature and bring it into everyday life. Our bookshop is dedicated to stories that have stood the test of time, from gothic tales and mysterious adventures to romantic classics, timeless children’s stories and imaginative worlds that continue to inspire generations of readers. Alongside our books, we create literary gift boxes and monthly subscriptions designed to offer something a little different. Thoughtfully curated and inspired by the worlds, characters and atmosphere of classic literature, each collection invites you to slow down, discover something new and find joy in the ritual of reading. Our original artwork and carefully chosen details draw inspiration from antique book illustrations, vintage film stills and the distinctive atmosphere of the stories we love. We want every item to feel like a small discovery: something to treasure, collect, gift or keep close to your favourite books.

Inspired by Our Highland Home

Life on the remote west coast of Scotland has its own rhythm. Here, Atlantic storms sweep across the coastline, the weather changes in an instant and quiet evenings are often best spent beside a fire with a good book. This landscape, with its wild beauty, sense of solitude and feeling of being somewhere between the familiar and the unknown, is at the heart of Between Worlds. It is a place that encourages imagination, reflection and a slower way of life. These are the feelings we hope to capture in everything we create, bringing together the atmosphere of our Highland surroundings with the extraordinary worlds found within classic literature.

Looking Ahead

Between Worlds is growing into a home for classic literature and the people who love it. From discovering your next favourite book to finding a thoughtful literary gift or receiving a little monthly reminder to escape into a story, we want to make the experience of loving books feel special. As we grow, our collection will continue to expand to include literary-inspired stationery, accessories, clothing and other carefully designed treasures, all rooted in our love of classic books and the art of storytelling. Whether you are drawn to the shadows of gothic fiction, the intrigue of a mystery, the romance of another era or the promise of an extraordinary adventure, we hope you will find something here that speaks to you. Because sometimes the best journeys begin with opening a book.

If you have ever felt caught between worlds, between the page and real life, the familiar and the fantastical, the everyday and the enchanted, you are in the right place.
